What it was

Cathay Pacific set up a pop-up for their 80th anniversary. It showed off their new Aria Suite business-class seats and their premium-economy seats, and it had a check-in desk in front of a departures board, a lounge, a shop and some games.

A pop-up that had already toured

This wasn't a build from scratch. The pop-up had already been on tour, so it showed up as a kit that other crews had put together in other places. Our job was to rebuild it outdoors, overnight, in a public plaza it wasn't designed for.

A lot of the work was reading the build guides from those earlier productions against what was actually in the cases and what the site gave us, and fitting the two together so the install went up the way it was meant to look.

Two LED walls, back to back

We built the two LED walls on back-to-back overnight load-ins: the brackets and the first wall one night, the second wall the next. Then I helped program the walls so the content landed where it was supposed to, including the departures board behind the check-in desk.

Outside the pop-up, a crowd gathers by curved teal walls with Cathay Pacific signage and an arched LED screen.
